Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used forms of medicine in the world. Originating in China more than 2,500 years ago, acupuncture is currently one of the most thoroughly researched, practiced, and respected forms of complementary medicine available anywhere.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, your overall health is determined by the quality of the Qi (energy) flow through the natural pathways of your body (meridians). Acupuncture uses a variety of techniques, including placing very thin sterile needles into specific points on the body, to stimulate and improve your Qi flow. The many benefits of acupuncture include:

  • Pain reduction
  • Stress and tension relief
  • Increased energy levels
  • Stronger digestion
  • Relief from bad habits and addictions
  • Greater sense of overall health and well-being

Pulse Diagnosis

One of the most common questions that patients ask about Chinese Medicine is: "Why does my practitioner check my pulse?" Pulse diagnosis is actually one of the most complex and important diagnostic techniques we use in Chinese Medicine. Through feeling and evaluating your pulse, I obtain an accurate diagnosis of your overall constitution, Qi (energy) flow, and internal organ health, among other things. I then synthesize all of this information into a highly effective and individualized treatment plan for your specific needs. Pulse diagnosis is used during every treatment, there is no extra charge for this service.

AcuTonics

Acutonics - Needleless Acupuncture mainly for use with children.  Acutonics, also known as Sonopuncture involves the application of precision calibrated tuning forks to specific acupuncture points that may otherwise be needled. The sound vibrations stimulate the point as needles would do to open, move, balance and stimulate the body's natural healing abilities.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture is a highly effective holistic treatment for pain, nausea, and chronic ailments. In practice, it is actually very similar to traditional acupuncture. Using the exact same system of Chinese Medicine, I insert very thin and sterile needles into specific points along the meridians of your body. I then attach the needles to a device that delivers gentle electrical pulses between two points. This helps restore the healthy flow of Qi (energy) through your body, removing any blockages and clearing out stagnant areas, thus creating a stronger and clearer experience of health and well-being. During the intake and assessment I will dtermine the best points and course of treatment for the ndividual.  If Electo therapy would be beneficial I will discuss it with you and integrate it into your treatment. There is no specific or seperate charge for this service as it is integrated into your treatment session.

Auricular Therapy

Auriculotherapy, or auricular therapy, or ear acupuncture, or auriculoacupuncture is a form of acupuncture based on the idea that the ear is a microsystem of the entire body represented on the auricle, the outer portion of the ear. Ailments of the entire body are assumed to be treatable by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively or in conjunction with other body points.

Auriculotherapy was developed by the French neurologist Dr. Paul Nogier in 1957 using a phrenological method of projection of a fetal Homunculus on the ear for reference of complaints and points for treatment. I recently completed a 3 day intensive study under Dr Paul Nogier, Jr. at Johns Hopkins University.

In 1980, a double blind experimentally controlled research study at UCLA Pain Management Center department of anesthesiology UCLA School of Medicine conducted a research study by Richard J. Kroeuning M.D., Ph.D and Terry D. Oleson Ph.D. This study reported in the medical journal, PAIN, verified the scientific accuracy of ear diagnosis. There was a statistically significant level of 75% accuracy achieved in diagnosing musculoskeletal pain problems in 40 pain patients.
